What Is Carnauba Wax?

A natural wax obtained from the leaves of the Brazilian palm tree (Copernicia prunifera). Used as a glazing agent to provide shine and protective coating on candies, fruits, pharmaceuticals, and car waxes. It is the hardest known natural wax.

Mechanism of Action

Carnauba wax is composed primarily of fatty acid esters, fatty alcohols, and hydrocarbons. It is not digested or absorbed by the human body and passes through the GI tract intact.
